Is it me? Or is there really a serious issue with everything adhering to standard 2.2 gamma? Not sure how bad this is for HDR, but the grey disappears and colors look better. Need to raise monitor contrast to 60, then knock down gamma to 0.77ish in nvidia control panel. Other games it is the same story, 2.2 gamma is simply too bright to calibrate games using the ingame sliders/images.

Or with the nvidia drivers I need to pull the gamma slider down to 0.62. With sdr I need to set my monitor to 2.6. But I'm not sure how much I'm crushing blacks doing this.įor instance if I load up Death Standing and open the brightness settings, calibrated to 2.2 gamma there is not enough adjustment in the slider to make the dark image disappear. I find i need to get images near 2.6 gamma before the grey is out of them and the colors become vivid. I'm talking actual physical perception all difference in light and color accuracy. Is this an individual perception thing? Do peoples eyes have different tolerances for light and color depth? I'm not talking about "preferences". Why then does everything look so washed out and grey when I calibrate to 2.2? Everyone and everything says sRGB is the proper color range for games. Everyone and everything says gamma 2.2 for sRGB.
